After successfully bagging the Guinness World Record for largest Cha Cha Cha last August 2017, Kidapawan once again takes a shot at breaking another Guinness World Record, the Largest Samba Dance.

Held on February 12, 2018, this Guinness World Record attempt became the highlight event of Kidapawan's Carnival Celebration.  Participated by almost 17, 000 people from the different sectors in the city including: public and private schools, government and private agencies, city government employees and officials, business community and the tourism sector. The city successfully achieved the Guinness World Record and beat the former record holder: Thailand that was set on 2014 with about 525 participants.

Kidapawan city broke the Guinness World Record for having the largest number of participants dancing the Cha Cha at the same time last August 30, 2016. This became the highlight event during the Kasadya sa Timpupo Festival.

Joined by exactly 14, 275 participants composed of mostly students from elementary, high school, college, government employees, and even senior citizens, our city beats the former record holder: Singapore which had 3, 379 participants.

This attempt of the City Government was used as motivation to clear the negative reports that filled the city, as well as to re-build the city's image after the protest rally of almost 5, 000 farmers who demanded rice from the province on April 2016. The Guinness World Record, in a way, changed the image of Kidapawan, bringing pride and joy to the city.
